Where is my data stored?

Trackers, date records, quotas, and reminder rules are stored on your device. When iCloud is available, they sync through your private CloudKit database to your other devices using the same Apple Account. CountCal has no developer-operated account or data server, and the developer cannot access your private CloudKit records.

Week-start and complication-privacy preferences can sync through iCloud. Default reminder time, haptics, notification-detail preference, onboarding state, system notification permission, and scheduled notifications remain device-specific.

Can I track movie days, gym days, or equipment use?

Yes. Create a separate tracker for each kind of day, such as WFH, annual leave, movie nights, gym days, car-use days, or shared-tool use. Each tracker counts a calendar date once, not multiple visits or sessions within that day. An optional day allowance helps you see the total and remaining days for your chosen period. Future dates you mark also count toward that period's total.

Why is another device not up to date?

Confirm that both devices use the same Apple Account, iCloud is available, and CountCal is allowed to use iCloud. Leave CountCal open briefly after reconnecting. Synchronization is automatic but may not be immediate. Changes made offline should sync after service returns.

How do I delete my data?

Delete an individual tracker from its editor, or choose Delete All Data in Settings. Business-data deletions sync to your other devices when iCloud is available. Delete All Data also resets preferences and cancels CountCal notifications on the current device, but does not change system notification permission.

Deleting CountCal from one device does not by itself delete data stored in private iCloud or on another device. Reinstalling with the same Apple Account may restore synced data.

How do I export a copy?

Open Settings, choose Data Management, then Export a Copy of Your Data. CountCal exports the data currently visible on that device as a readable JSON file and lets you choose where to save or share it.

Why did a reminder not arrive?

Check notification status in CountCal Settings and confirm that notifications are allowed in system settings on that device. Focus modes and notification summaries may affect delivery. Reminder rules can sync, but notification permission and scheduling are device-specific.

Notifications hide tracker names and quotas by default. You can change this in CountCal Settings; Lock Screen previews are controlled separately by the operating system.

Can totals be used as compliance evidence?

No. CountCal is for personal recordkeeping and is not proof of tax, visa, medical, or employment compliance.
